The field of optics in which Computar is involved is extremely specialized, so there are cases where customers themselves are unable to decide on the specifications. Our engineers communicate directly with customers, and in addition to our own development and technical capabilities and experience, we work with many component manufacturers and suppliers as “optical catalysts”. We solve problems by integrating technologies and knowledge from a wide range of fields. Furthermore, Computar engineers keep their eyes and ears open for global market trends and technologies, and constantly develop new needs and feed them back into product design. At the head office, which is the center of Computar's quality assurance, design and production technology work closely together to share all product information. In addition, at the development center, technical development and quality assurance work together to efficiently carry out more accurate evaluations and judgments for all products. Furthermore, we have established a system that allows the head office to keep track of all customer information worldwide, and we have created an organizational structure that integrates production and sales.

Quality control by full-time professionals
Computar manufactures its products at its own factories overseas and at partner factories in Japan that have been working with the brand since its early days, and has established a high-quality management system that maintains brand quality from the launch of new products through to mass production. At our overseas factories, we have assigned full-time professionals who have received specialized training, and we are implementing thorough quality assurance at each factory, including with our parts suppliers. For example, in quality assurance management, we share information with each factory, including feedback on past problems and the detailed requests of our customers, which are understood by our design staff. We also take action to prevent problems from occurring in advance, from the product launch stage. We strive to deliver optimal solutions by incorporating global customer feedback into our products, going beyond conventional quality standards.

Original quality evaluation system using original optical measuring equipment
Computar believes that it is possible to achieve truly stable quality by having a system that allows us to independently evaluate the parts and raw materials that make up our products. Quality information data from each factory is shared in a timely manner at the head office using the latest communication tools. This system makes it possible to visualize the inspection and analysis data from the factories, and reflect this in our daily quality improvements. In addition, on the production line, we use original measuring equipment that excels in terms of accuracy, speed and utility, as well as commercially available measuring equipment, to evaluate quality. Furthermore, we have jointly developed original measuring equipment with specialist manufacturers. We also have a refractive index measuring machine owned by a glass melting manufacturer, and a 3D aspherical shape measuring machine that measures aspherical lenses, which are key optical products. We are able to perform more reliable quality evaluations.
Maintaining continuous quality improvement through the training of excellent factory staff
At Computar, we also focus on training factory staff. Although digitalization of evaluation equipment for optical products is progressing rapidly, analog equipment is still in use, and the ability to correctly use these devices is required in production sites. We will continue to provide guidance and deploy the measurement know-how we have accumulated over half a century to all factories, and continue our unceasing quality improvement activities.
